Plot Summary:
In Chapter Seven - Aurelino was captured. When he was captured, he was brought into Macondo the main village. When he got there, he receives the death penalty. When he finds this information out, he talks with his mother Ursula about what he should do. He thinks that the gun she was providing to him may be the help for Jose for a good escape. The only problem is the gun does no good and the town rebels for all the problems that he has caused. In the chapter though, the people were afraid to kill him because it then would leave a guilt conscience behind. But when it is time for the actual execution for Aureliano, Jose Arcadio gets in the way. He brings the army through and Aurliana flees away. The next day, Jose Arcadio is shot and killed in his own room. While this is all going on, Aureliano Segundo and Jose Arcadio Segundo, the twins of Sofia and Arcadio, are born. Then Jose Arcadio Buendia finally dies, and a bucnh of yellow flowers began to fall from the sky which represents mourning of the "earth".

Quotes:
Quote One - "I don't know how the miracle took place, but he's alive and we're going to see him very soon"(pg. 121).
Quote Two - "A person f*cks himself up so much," Colonel Aureliano Buendia said. " F*cks himself up so much just so that six weak fairies can kill him and he can't do anything about it"(pg. 128).

Theme:
The major theme of this chapter is Death. Jose Arcadio Buendio was the first one to die. Also Colonel Aureliano should of died. However, he did not die. But a lot of deaths have been occuring in the Buendio family lately.

Magical Realism:
The element of magical realism is a flashback. Before Jose Arcadio Buendia has died, he saw the ghost of the man that he killed. This man came to him and talked to him about the war mainly. Another thing that happens when he dies is flowers fall from the sky, as rain. This represents the earth mourning because Jose Arcadio Buendia has died.

Charater Development:
Rebeca- changes because he husband passes on.
Jose Arcadio Buendia- dies
Armanta- stays neglected becuase of the rejection from Colonel Marquez.
Ursula- changes her personality a bit and opens up to more changes in life. Also she realizes that problems occur in life and others lives.
Colonel Aureliano- finally comes to the realization that death does occur . Also tradegy does happen in life regardless who you are.
